Greetings

Parents, Community Members and Students,

My name is Katrina B. Clavon, and it is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed assistant principal at Marion Intermediate School.  I am entering my 9th year in education with the previous 8 years spent in various locations in South Carolina and Arkansas. I served first as a teacher and later as a Curriculum Facilitator and Reading Coach.  I feel like my time working within each of these positions will help me immensely in my role as the assistant principal at MIS. I am truly honored to work alongside Mrs. Dozier and the rest of the staff to positively impact every student’s performance and school experience.

Along with the current staff and administration, I will work hard to build strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community leaders.  I feel strongly that building relationships is the key to any school improvement process.  No one person has all of the answers, but working collaboratively we may. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.”

In order to achieve this success, it is important that we develop a positive working relationship with open lines of communication.  I welcome introductory phone calls at 843-423-8345: ext 3215 or e-mails: kclavon@marion.k12.sc.us .

In my role as the assistant principal, one of my primary responsibilities will be handling discipline on a school wide level.  I encourage you to become familiar with the student handbook and the PBIS S.T.A.R Fox expectations for our school.  My experience with PBIS has allowed me to have invaluable information that will allow us to intervene when children do not exhibit desired behaviors.  I will work with your child to help them make more appropriate decisions going forward so they can become better school/community citizens.

In conclusion, I am honored and humbled to be a part of not only this school, but to be a part of the Marion County Community.  I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future. GO STAR FOXES!

Yours in Education,

Katrina B. Clavon, Ed.S
